Boudoir session for two
02/01/2012 by Anna.
In November I had a fun boudoir shoot with two beautiful women; I think it was less scary for them to have a friend to share it with and I had an assistant to help with holding reflectors, when needed.
This shot works well on everyone and is always flattering.
The red satin sheets are brilliant for boudoir photography.
For this lovely last image I balanced the natural window light with a big softbox to give sandwich lighting which has highlighted Bethan’s beautiful shape.
I hope the prints you both got were favourably recieved by your men folk!

A bridal boudoir session
12/11/2011 by Anna.
I’m not sure if it’s thanks to Gok Wan but bridal boudoir is becoming quite big over here in the UK. The idea is that I capture your sexuality and femininity in pictures which are then given to your husband as a surprise on your wedding night! Last week I photographed Claire who is getting married at the end of the month.
It’s not usual for the bride-to be’s mother to be present, but Claire’s mother was a very good assistant, holding the reflector and a little video light when needed!
I always start off with a head and shoulders portrait to help my client to settle in and feel confident when she can see how great she looks!
Claire’s new husband is going to love this one!
I have a full length cathedral veil which I also use for my wedding training sessions, and it’s great as an accessory.
This is always a beautiful, flattering pose.
A cheeky smile!
Thanks, Claire, for letting me use your images and I hope Tom loves them!

A boudoir shoot
28/02/2011 by Anna.
This boudoir shoot took place in a bedroom using only window light from a combination of 1, 2 or 3 windows (for light subtraction I simply pulled the curtain or used shutters to block off the light!)
It helps that Lexy is a beautiful young woman, but any woman can be made to look beautiful - this pose is a great one for all shapes and sizes, with maybe just a slight change to camera angle for a larger woman.
I begin a boudoir shoot with some simple head and shoulder poses which gives confidence to the woman, especially when seeing the results on the back of the camera!
Light from 2 windows on opposite sides of the bedroom have given lovely sandwich lighting which flatters the face and also highlights the hair. A window acts as a huge soft box so the light is soft with no hard shadows.
I like using various effects when working on the images in Photoshop after the session to give different moods to the images.
Once the session is well under way it’s time to move around and take some lying down shots; the angle of the light and the camera gives each image a different feel.
I have a red satin sheet which comes in really useful to give a rich warm, sexy colour and texture.
Lexy has now moved onto a sheepskin rug on the floor as I wanted to use the mirror in the background to give some interest to the shots (it’s not obvious in this image).
Here again, the red satin sheet has come in useful! I especially like the sun casting the shadows on the wall.
A session like this is a real confidence boosting experience for a woman. I will work with you to develop your best features and we’ll have some fun along the way! Woman of all ages and sizes are welcome - book a session for yourself or give a picture as a gift for the man in your life.
Thanks to Lexy for letting me share some of her lovely pictures.
